Why I Built This

I’m a chef, founder, and solo mother who has lived burnout, rebuilding, and the slow work of regulation for many year and I didn’t need more motivation.

I needed my body to feel safe again.

Pocket of Joy is the system I wish existed when I was holding everything together but felt disconnected inside.

After becoming a solo mum and doing it all alone, I kept trying to force my old life to fit my new one. It wasn’t working and I didn’t recognise myself anymore.

Everything shifted the morning my daughter bounced on her new trampoline at sunrise. Watching her laugh, I felt a spark of joy for the first time in months.

From there I promised myself I would find joy again.
What I needed most wasn’t a new routine, it was a new way of relating to myself in the reality I was living as a solo mum. I began with tiny rituals, stretching, a cup of tea, a song while folding washing and over 66 days, I slowly felt like myself again.

Pocket of Joy was born from that season: the small, science-backed practices that brought me home to myself and my joy.
